Big fat Indian weddings are expensive affairs. Families spend huge sums of money to entertain their guests and relatives alike to their heart's content. The whole process of organizing a big marriage needs to be well-planned and executed for which an approximate budget needs to be arrived at. The simple reason behind it is to incorporate all related things within a stipulated budget.

The first step is to find out all possible sources of finances, it could be the bride and the groom themselves, both the set of their parents and other generous relatives or family members. Once a realistic budget has been set, the amount could be classified into various categories. There are certain priorities that you have to adhere to, for instance you don't have to get carried away just because someone you know had a grand wedding. Again, it is impertinent that you stick to your budget and don't saddle yourself with personal loans.

You can start with finding a perfect venue for the marriage that is cost friendly to your pockets. One has to find out if the number of guests will fit there or not. It is better to get married in the off season if there are no religious constraints on your part. You can save further if you get married in wedding halls, or a friend's farm house, or even a community centre.

The reception is that part of the wedding marriage that consumes a major portion of the allocated budget. All those serving of food and drink fall in this category. It is advisable to hire a caterer that will provide a full package deal you with all- waiters, bartenders, glassware, table cloths, dcor and napkins. To cut down further expenses, it is better not to go for hard liquor and instead serve soft drinks, juices, wine, signature drinks. The foods need not to be exotic and fancy; a simple dish that everyone is familiar with is preferable. It is not compulsory for the cake to be multi tiered, one or two is enough.
