Post-wedding ceremonies are ceremonies of great significance in Indian weddings. The joy of weddings doesn't ends with the main day weddings. This post wedding part of the marriage also has some rituals to be performed. The most prominent post-wedding ritual is reception where a grand party is thrown for selected guest. The reception is also a chance to give social acceptance of bride as a part of the family.

Post wedding ceremonies are an integral part of Indian weddings. The celebrations don't stop after the marriage ceremony, but continue with joy and enthusiasm. The reason is that marriage is only the beginning of the journey for the couple. So the momentous journey needs to be started on a happy note. One of the first post wedding ceremonies is the wedding reception. It is usually held at the venue of the marriage. The Wedding reception is held in the evening at a hotel or restaurant where selected guests are invited. It's all about coming together and wishing the newly married couple a happy emotional journey and relaxing over food and drinks.

The sending off of the bride from her parent's home is also an important post wedding ceremony. The bride is given a final send-off from her parent's home and she shifts to bridegrooms house permanently. This is called 'Vidaai' and tends to get tearful in the end nevertheless being an essential Indian post wedding ceremony. Some post wedding ceremonies are marked with crackers and fireworks.

Types
Post wedding ceremonies continue long way after the marriage party is over. The bridegroom's family usually holds a reception for its friends and well wishers who could not make it to the wedding. There are elaborate ceremonies when the bride enters her husband's home for the first time. There is the 'Grihpravesh' ceremony and the 'Muh Dikhai' ceremony as well. Both are symbolic and are to reinforce the belief that the bride is now part of a new family.
